Selling on herkesekey
Seller identity verification (KYC)
Before you sell on herkesekey you verify your email, your phone and your identity. The identity check takes a few minutes, and we only keep the result.
We know who everyone selling on our marketplace really is. This protects buyers and makes fraud with stolen cards or accounts opened in someone else's name much harder.
Why do I need to verify my identity?
- The law: the Turkish E-Commerce Law No. 6563 (as amended by Law No. 7416) and the regulation of 29 December 2022 require marketplaces to verify each seller's identifying information, not to serve unverified sellers, and to re-check them every year.
- Trust: buyers know they are buying from a verified seller.
- Fraud prevention: it stops seller accounts opened with fake or borrowed identities.
The steps
- 1Email: verify your account email address. If the email did not arrive, you can resend it from the verification page.
- 2Phone: choose your country code, enter your number and press "Send code". Enter the 6-digit code from the SMS. The code is valid for 10 minutes, and you can request a new one after 60 seconds. A phone number can be verified on one account only.
- 3Seller application: enter your store name and your legal first and last name exactly as they appear on your ID.
- 4Identity: tick the explicit consent box and press "Verify my identity". You are taken to the secure page of our verification partner Didit. Take a photo of your ID document and a short selfie.
- 5Result: most verifications are approved automatically within minutes, and you can start listing right away. Some applications are reviewed by our team, which usually takes less than 24 hours.
Which documents can I use?
We accept sellers from every country. Didit supports documents from more than 220 countries. You can use:
- Turkish ID card (the new chip ID card)
- Passport (any country)
- Driving licence
- Residence permit
The document must not be expired and you must be at least 18. The name on the document must match the legal name in your application (upper/lower case, Turkish characters and spaces do not matter).
What data is processed and stored?
- The image of your ID document and your selfie (biometric data) are processed only for identity verification by our partner Didit, on servers in the European Union (AWS).
- Didit keeps these images for at most 30 days and then deletes them.
- herkesekey stores no images. We keep only the result: the verification status and date, the document country, type and expiry date, the name on the document, the date of birth, an irreversible hash of the document number, and risk warnings.
- Your phone number is stored on your account. SMS codes are kept only briefly and hashed.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, but by law unverified sellers cannot sell. See our Privacy Policy (/privacy) for details.
What if my verification is declined?
- The verification page shows the reason, when one is given.
- The most common reasons: a blurry photo or glare, an expired document, the name on the document not matching the application, or the selfie not matching the document.
- Try again in good light with the whole document visible. You have 3 attempts in total.
- If you are out of attempts or think it is a mistake, contact our support team and an admin will review your application.
Trying to verify with someone else's identity gets your account closed permanently. If the same document, face or phone number is already used on another seller account, the application goes to manual review.
After verification
For the first 30 days after verification, new-seller limits apply: at most 20 active listings and at most 200 keys per upload. Payouts go only to verified sellers, and the buyer protection rules still apply.
